Floors for Single-Story Homes and Additions

Lake Balboa runs from Roscoe Boulevard south to Victory Boulevard, the same street as our showroom, with the Sepulveda Basin and its lake park just to the south and Van Nuys Airport on the eastern edge.

Many homes here are single-story houses, and many have been added onto over the years, so one house can have a raised wood subfloor in the original rooms and a concrete slab under a later addition. Engineered hardwood works on both, nailed over wood and glued or floated over concrete, so the same floor can run through the whole house. We check each room during the estimate and confirm the method before you order.

How We Install Hardwood

1. Free in-home estimate

We come to your home, measure each room, check the subfloor and talk through options. We bring flooring samples to your home.

2. Subfloor and moisture check

On a concrete slab we test for moisture before we quote. On a raised wood subfloor we check for flatness and loose or squeaky spots.

3. Removal and prep

Our crew removes the old flooring and preps the subfloor, including leveling where it is needed.

4. Installation and trim

We glue, nail or float the new floor to suit your subfloor and product, then finish the stairs and trim.

Engineered or solid?

Both are real wood. Engineered hardwood has a real wood top layer on a layered core, so it moves less as humidity changes, and it is the usual choice on a concrete slab, glued down or floated. Solid hardwood is one piece of wood through the whole plank and goes over a raised wood subfloor, nailed down. Where a house mixes a raised floor and a slab addition, engineered hardwood is often the simplest way to keep one look throughout.

Questions We Hear

Do you have a showroom in Lake Balboa?

No. Our only showroom is in Woodland Hills at 21030 Victory Blvd, about 6 miles by car. We come to you for the estimate. We bring flooring samples to your home.

Can one floor run through my original house and a slab addition?

Often, yes. Many engineered hardwoods can be nailed over a wood subfloor and glued or floated over concrete. We confirm the method each area needs before you order.

What flooring works in kitchens and laundry rooms?

Waterproof vinyl plank and tile both handle water well, and we install both. Laminate also works in many kitchens if spills are wiped up.

Do you take commercial projects?

Yes. We work on residential and commercial projects. Tell us about the space when you call.

Can I buy flooring without installation?

Yes. You can buy material only or have us install it. Delivery available, charged separately based on job site location and project size.

Is there original hardwood under my carpet?
Many post-war homes have it. We can pull back a corner during the estimate and tell you whether it’s worth refinishing.
