Laminate flooring is perfect for busy households and high-traffic areas.
Laminate gives you a wood look that stands up to kids, pets and busy hallways. Here is how a laminate flooring installation in Los Angeles works with our crew, from the first visit to the walkthrough.
How laminate flooring installation works
- Free in-home estimate. We measure every room, check the subfloor and help you compare laminate styles. You get an exact quantity and price with no obligation.
- Removal and prep. We remove and haul away the old flooring (carpet, tile or vinyl), then flatten the subfloor so the click joints stay tight.
- Underlayment and installation. Laminate is a floating floor: the planks click together over an underlayment and are not glued or nailed to the subfloor. We leave the expansion gap the manufacturer requires at the walls.
- Trim and walkthrough. We finish transitions, baseboard or quarter round and stair nosing, then walk the floor with you.
Subfloor prep for laminate
Most Valley homes sit on a concrete slab. Before laminate goes down we check the slab for moisture and flatness, grind high spots and fill low spots with leveling compound. A vapor barrier goes under the underlayment on slab. Over a raised wood subfloor we check for squeaks and loose panels first. Flatness matters more with laminate than with most floors, because dips make the click joints flex and open.
What affects the cost of laminate installation
Total square footage, the laminate you choose (thickness, plank size, texture), removing the old floor, how much leveling the subfloor needs, stairs, and transitions and baseboard. Every home is different, so we give you an exact price after the free in-home estimate.

Laminate installation FAQs
Can laminate go on a concrete slab?
Yes. Laminate floats over an underlayment with a vapor barrier, so it works on slab after we check moisture and flatness.
Can you install laminate in kitchens and bathrooms?
Kitchens, yes. For full bathrooms and laundry rooms we usually recommend waterproof vinyl plank instead, because standing water can damage laminate.
Do you install laminate on stairs?
Yes. We install laminate stair treads and matching stair nosing.
Laminate or vinyl plank?
Laminate feels harder and resists scratches well. Vinyl plank is the safer choice where water is likely. We can show you both at the showroom or during your in-home estimate.
