Showroom lighting is designed to make flooring look good. Your living room at four in the afternoon in November is not. The most common regret in a flooring project is a color that looked right under showroom lights and reads too yellow, too grey, or too dark once it covers four hundred square feet of your actual home.

That is the problem this service solves. We bring samples to your house, lay them on your floor, and look at them in your light, against your walls, next to the furniture and cabinets that are staying. Glamour Flooring has run a Woodland Hills showroom since 2007, and this mobile service simply extends it to your living room.

What we bring, and what we do with it

We ask about your rooms, your household and the look you are after before the visit, so we arrive with a relevant selection rather than a van full of everything. During the consultation we will:

• Lay samples directly on the existing floor in the rooms being replaced
• Look at each one in daylight and again under your evening lighting — the two readings are often strikingly different
• Compare the contenders against your cabinets, trim, and any furniture that is staying
• Talk through how each material will handle your actual household: pets, children, sun exposure, moisture
• Narrow the field to a small number of real options instead of leaving you with a pile of swatches
• Measure while we are there, if you would like your free in-home measurement done in the same visit

Who benefits most

Color and undertone

Species and finish both drive undertone. Two floors that read as light oak online can look markedly different side by side in the same room.

Plank width and layout

Wider planks read modern and make a room feel larger; narrower boards read traditional. Herringbone and chevron change the character of a space considerably and cost more to install.

Finish and sheen

Matte finishes hide dust and light scratching far better than gloss. In a home with pets or heavy traffic this matters more than almost any other single choice.

Hardness and wear

Species hardness affects how a floor copes with dog claws and dropped objects. It pays to be realistic about your household here rather than optimistic.

Material category

Solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, laminate and waterproof vinyl each behave differently around moisture, over concrete slab and with radiant heat. We will tell you plainly which suit your subfloor and which do not.
