Johnson Hardwood Olde Tavern Dark and Stormy is a high-performance laminate from Johnson Hardwood’s Olde Tavern series, built on Johnson’s water-resistant WaterShield core with an attached IXPE pad. It carries an AC4 rating for wear resistance, and the planks are 6.5″ wide.

Johnson lists Dark and Stormy as a medium color tone with medium color variation between planks, and a registered embossing surface. Registered embossing means the texture follows the printed grain, so knots and grain lines feel real, not just look real. Construction

Modern high-performance laminate combines a high-density fiberboard core with a photographic wood layer and a tough wear surface. Johnson’s WaterShield core is designed to resist surface water better than standard laminate, but it should still be wiped up promptly.
