About this floor
California Classics Mediterranean Bilbao
Bilbao: hand-selected Mediterranean French oak
Bilbao is a color from the California Classics Mediterranean collection. California Classics hand-selects the French oak for this line, which makes this color a fit for a formal dining room or living room where the floor is part of the décor.
Look and design
The boards are smoked twice to age the grain, scraped lightly and given hand-carved edges and ends, then wire-brushed. In a room with traditional moldings or plaster walls, that worn edge detail looks right at home. We can't describe its tone beyond that, because California Classics hasn't published one; compare it beside Granville and Santolina at the showroom.
Construction and specs
It is an 8″ engineered plank, 9/16″ thick, with 4mm of French oak on top. Lengths are 75″, three quarters of them long boards. The finish is a low-gloss Valspar urethane enhanced with aluminum oxide, built up in eight coats. Item MCBB438.
Where it works best
Formal dining and living rooms, bedrooms, entries and studies.
Installed by our licensed flooring contractor team
Our crews confirm the install method once they've checked your subfloor, as the spec doesn't name one. They lay out the room so carved edges line up cleanly along the main sight line. More on hardwood installation, other California Classics colors, and our Woodland Hills installation page.
