Montrichard Herringbone: Domaine II oak for statement rooms

Montrichard Herringbone is part of Monarch Plank's Domaine II, Monarch's flagship European oak known for heavy construction. In herringbone, it suits an entry, a dining room or a study where the floor pattern is the focal point.

Look and design

The oak is rustic grade, hand scraped and treated with smoke and a reactive stain, under an ultra-matte Bona urethane. Reactive staining responds differently to each board's grain, so tone varies piece to piece. Pieces measure 4-3/4″ by 33″. Monarch publishes no separate color description for Montrichard.

Construction and specs

Each piece is 3/4″ thick with a 6mm sawn European oak top layer on a hardwood lumber core. That thick sawn face looks and wears much like solid oak. A damp-mop routine with a wood-floor cleaner keeps the ultra-matte finish even.

Where it works best

Entries, dining rooms, studies, living rooms and bedrooms. With glue-down and float on Monarch's list, a slab is possible after a moisture test.
