Allier Herringbone: heavy-build Monarch oak in a zigzag

Allier Herringbone comes from Monarch Plank's Domaine II collection, named for a managed French forest. Domaine II takes popular colors from Monarch's original oil-finished Domaine line and puts them under a durable Bona urethane. This is the herringbone format: 4-3/4″ by 33″ pieces.

Look and design

Monarch lists a hand-scraped surface, a smoked and reactive-stain color treatment and an ultra-matte Bona finish, on rustic-grade oak. Laid in herringbone, the scraping and color shifts catch the light at alternating angles.

Construction and specs

It is a substantial 3/4″ piece with a 6mm sawn European oak top layer over a hardwood lumber core. Sawn veneer shows grain much like solid wood. The ultra-matte urethane is easy to clean with a wood-floor cleaner.

Where it works best

Entries, dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and studies. Monarch lists glue-down and float, so it can go over a slab after a moisture test.
