Overview

Bark (Premium grade) is one of the colors in Johnson Hardwood’s Oak Grove collection, made as a European Oak engineered hardwood. Oak Grove is 1/2-inch European oak in random lengths with a light wire brush and low-gloss UV-cured aluminum oxide finish. Johnson describes Bark (Premium grade) as having a light color tone, high variation from plank to plank and a low gloss level. Dimensions: 7-1/2″ wide, 1/2″ thick, 1.8mm Premium/Prime Grade top layer. Lengths: Random. Surface: light wire brushed; finish: UV cured aluminum oxide. Install options: staple (18ga, 1-1/2, 1-3/4), glue, float. Where it can go: on-grade, above-grade and below-grade (per Johnson). Johnson lists a 35-year limited residential warranty. Color and Appearance

Johnson lists Bark as a light color tone with high color variation between planks, and a light wire brushed surface. Because it is real wood, every plank is different. Johnson does not publish a written color description, so we recommend seeing it in person in our showroom or at home before you decide.

Construction

Engineered construction pairs a real hardwood wear layer with a cross-layered core. It moves less than solid wood through Southern California’s dry Santa Ana winds and seasonal humidity changes, and Johnson rates it for on-, above- and below-grade installs. A thinner wear layer is best screened and recoated rather than fully sanded.
