Westlake Village Remodel: Herringbone Engineered Hardwood and Rift White Oak Cabinetry

This Westlake Village home (91361) got a full remodel that we designed and built from start to finish. The project included new flooring upstairs and downstairs, custom rift white oak cabinetry throughout the house and a full bathroom remodel.

Before

The kitchen had an older plank floor and the original cabinets, and the living room was carpeted.

Preparing the floor

Herringbone shows every high and low spot in a subfloor, so we self-leveled the floors before laying any wood. Over the concrete areas we used a moisture-barrier adhesive. It bonds the engineered planks to the slab and limits the moisture that can come up through the concrete, which protects the wood from cupping. Every board was glued down, which suits a pattern like herringbone and gives the floor a solid feel underfoot.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen was redone with custom rift white oak cabinetry. The same herringbone floor runs through the kitchen, breakfast area and dining room without interruption.

Bathrooms

The full bathroom remodel was part of the same design.
