Overview

Florence is one of the colors in Johnson Hardwood’s Tuscan collection, made as a Hickory engineered hardwood. Tuscan recreates handcrafted Northern Italian floors, mixing plank widths so each board keeps its own character. Johnson lists Florence with a dark color tone, medium variation from plank to plank and a semi gloss level. Size: 4-1/2″, 6″, 7-1/2″ wide, 9/16″ thick, 2.0mm top layer. Lengths: Random. Surface: handscraped; finish: 11 step, aluminum oxide. It can be installed by staple, cleat, glue, float. Where it can go: on-grade, above-grade and below-grade (per Johnson). Color and Appearance

Johnson lists Florence as a dark color tone with medium color variation between planks, and a handscraped surface. Because it is real wood, every plank is different. Johnson does not publish a written color description, so we recommend seeing it in person in our showroom or at home before you decide.

Construction

Engineered construction pairs a real hardwood wear layer with a cross-layered core. It moves less than solid wood through Southern California’s dry Santa Ana winds and seasonal humidity changes, and Johnson rates it for on-, above- and below-grade installs. The 2.0mm top layer can typically be lightly screened and recoated, and thicker wear layers allow sanding; ask us what is possible for this floor.
