Overview

From Johnson Hardwood’s Texas Timber line, Labrador is a European Oak engineered hardwood. Texas Timber is European oak with a light wire brush, a 1.2 mm sliced veneer and a UV-cured aluminum oxide finish, 3/8 inch thick and 7-1/2 inches wide, in colors named for Texas tones. Johnson describes Labrador as having high variation from plank to plank and a matte gloss level. Plank size: 7-1/2″ wide, 3/8″ thick, 1.2mm, Sliced top layer. Lengths: Random. Surface: light wire-brushed; finish: UV cured aluminum oxide; edge: bevel. Installation: staple, glue. Where it can go: on-grade, above-grade and below-grade (per Johnson). Color and Appearance

Johnson does not list a color tone for Labrador with high color variation between planks, and a light wire-brushed surface. Because it is real wood, every plank is different. Johnson does not publish a written color description, so we recommend seeing it in person in our showroom or at home before you decide.

Construction

Engineered construction pairs a real hardwood wear layer with a cross-layered core. It moves less than solid wood through Southern California’s dry Santa Ana winds and seasonal humidity changes, and Johnson rates it for on-, above- and below-grade installs. A thinner wear layer is best screened and recoated rather than fully sanded.
