Overview

From Johnson Hardwood’s English Pub line, Pilsner is a Hickory engineered hardwood. English Pub is hand-scraped and hand-honed to recall old English pubs, using character-grade hickory with filled splits and knots on long 7-foot planks. Johnson lists Pilsner with a light color tone, high variation from plank to plank and a semi gloss level. Size: 7-1/2″ wide, 1/2″ thick, 2.0mm top layer. Length: Most in 7/LF. Surface: smooth; finish: 11 step, aluminum oxide; edge: full bevel. It can be installed by staple, cleat, glue, float. Where it can go: on-grade, above-grade and below-grade (per Johnson). Color and Appearance

Johnson lists Pilsner as a light color tone with high color variation between planks, and a smooth surface. Because it is real wood, every plank is different. Johnson does not publish a written color description, so we recommend seeing it in person in our showroom or at home before you decide.

Construction

Engineered construction pairs a real hardwood wear layer with a cross-layered core. It moves less than solid wood through Southern California’s dry Santa Ana winds and seasonal humidity changes, and Johnson rates it for on-, above- and below-grade installs. The 2.0mm top layer can typically be lightly screened and recoated, and thicker wear layers allow sanding; ask us what is possible for this floor.
