Color and Appearance

Johnson lists Sandstone as a medium color tone with high color variation between planks, and a light wire-brushed surface. Because it is real wood, every plank is different. Johnson does not publish a written color description, so we recommend seeing it in person in our showroom or at home before you decide.

Construction

Engineered construction pairs a real hardwood wear layer with a cross-layered core. It moves less than solid wood through Southern California’s dry Santa Ana winds and seasonal humidity changes, and Johnson rates it for on-, above- and below-grade installs. A thinner wear layer is best screened and recoated rather than fully sanded.

Installation

Our crews check your subfloor for moisture and flatness and install to the manufacturer’s guidelines. Johnson lists these methods: Staple, Cleat, Glue, Float. We choose nail-down, glue-down or floating based on your subfloor and rooms. Learn more about our hardwood flooring installation.
