Overview

Bergamo Oak Malvesia Bene is an Italian-made engineered hardwood floor from Bergamo Floors: a 4mm European white oak top layer on a 5/8″ Baltic birch plywood core. It comes in 9.5″ (242mm) planks in Light Character grade, with a matte polyurethane finish.

Color and Appearance

A wide-plank European white oak in Bergamo’s Bene line. Bergamo does not publish a written color description for Malvesia Bene, so we recommend seeing the sample board in our showroom or at home before deciding. Light Character grade shows natural knots and grain movement, which suits the long, wide 9.5″ boards.

Construction

Engineered construction pairs a real oak wear layer with a cross-layered plywood core. The core is more stable than solid wood through Southern California’s dry Santa Ana winds and seasonal humidity changes, and the 4mm top layer leaves material for future sanding and refinishing.

Available Options

Malvesia Bene is one of Bergamo’s 9.5″ Bene colors. Other Bene colors include Turin, Sorrento, Pisa, Mondovi, Tramonto, Venosa, Lasa, Treviso, Capri and Alfano.

Installation

Our crews check your subfloor for moisture and flatness, allow the boards to acclimate, and choose a glue-down, nail-down or floating method that suits your subfloor. Care

• Sweep or vacuum (hard-floor setting) regularly to remove grit.
• Clean with a barely damp mop and a cleaner made for polyurethane-finished wood. Never wet-mop or steam.
• Use felt pads under furniture and mats at entries.
• Keep indoor humidity steady. Very dry air can cause small seasonal gaps.

Bergamo’s finish warranty requires following NWFA care guidance.

Warranty Summary

Bergamo warrants the surface finish for 50 years in residential use and 10 years in commercial use, plus a lifetime structural warranty. Coverage is for the original purchaser, requires installation by a licensed flooring contractor, excludes stairs from the wear-through coverage, and applies trade allowances (5% for milling and grading, 10% for finish wear).
