Color and Appearance

Johnson lists Sierra as a medium color tone with high color variation between planks, and a light wire brushed surface. Because it is real wood, every plank is different. Johnson does not publish a written color description, so we recommend seeing it in person in our showroom or at home before you decide.

Construction

Engineered construction pairs a real hardwood wear layer with a cross-layered core. It moves less than solid wood through Southern California’s dry Santa Ana winds and seasonal humidity changes, and Johnson rates it for on-, above- and below-grade installs. The 4.0mm top layer can typically be lightly screened and recoated, and thicker wear layers allow sanding; ask us what is possible for this floor.

Installation

Our crews check your subfloor for moisture and flatness and install to the manufacturer’s guidelines. Johnson lists these methods: Staple, Cleat, Glue, Float. We choose nail-down, glue-down or floating based on your subfloor and rooms. Learn more about our hardwood flooring installation.
