Six steps

How Our Carpet Installation Works

  1. In-home estimate and measuring. We measure every room and closet, plan where the seams will fall, and check the doorways and the transitions to your other floors.

  2. Taking out the old floor. We pull up the old carpet, pad and staples, then check the subfloor for squeaks, damage or moisture before anything new goes down.

  3. Tack strip and pad. We replace damaged tack strip and lay new pad matched to the carpet.

  4. Seaming and stretching. Seams go in low-traffic areas where the room allows, and the carpet is stretched tight so it lies flat without ripples.

  5. Edges and transitions. We finish the edges at walls and doorways and the transitions to hardwood, tile or vinyl.

  6. Final check. We check the seams and edges with you before we leave.

Install-Only Jobs with Customer-Supplied Carpet

Already bought your carpet somewhere else? We also take install-only jobs with carpet you supply. Before we schedule, we check that you have enough carpet for the rooms, the seams and any pattern match, and we talk through the right pad.

For an install-only quote, have this ready when you call:

  • Room sizes, or a simple sketch with the closets marked
  • The carpet’s roll width, style and any pattern repeat (usually on the label or invoice)
  • Whether you already have pad, and its thickness
  • What is on the floor now, and whether there are stairs

Buying Carpet and Installation Together

If you haven’t bought carpet yet, you can choose it and have it installed through one company. The measurements, the pad and the installation are all planned together, so the amount ordered matches the rooms and the seam plan. Shop carpet at our Woodland Hills showroom. Before we arrive

Getting Ready for Installation Day

  • Clear small items, electronics and anything fragile from the rooms.
  • Empty the floors of any closets getting new carpet.
  • Plan where pets and kids will be while the crew works, since doors stay open and tools are in use.
  • If the new carpet and pad are thicker than the old ones, some doors may need trimming. We point this out during the estimate so there are no surprises.
  • Ask during the estimate how furniture will be handled on your job.

The first few weeks

After Your New Carpet Is Installed

Ventilate

open windows and run fans for a day or two to clear the new-carpet smell.

Vacuum

new cut-pile carpet sheds loose fibers at first. Regular vacuuming clears them, and the shedding tapers off.

Furniture

put felt pads or cups under heavy legs. Small dents usually lift as the pile recovers.

Seams

seams can show a little in the first weeks and become less visible as the pile settles. If one bothers you, call us.

Carpet Installation Questions

How long does carpet installation take?

It depends on the number of rooms, the stairs and the condition of the subfloor. We give you a timeline at the in-home estimate, after we have measured and checked the floor.

What do you need for an install-only quote?

Room sizes or a sketch, the carpet’s roll width and any pattern repeat, whether you already have pad, and what is on the floor now. Call (818) 963-0878 with those details.

Where will the seams go?

We plan seams during measuring and place them in low-traffic areas where the room allows, running the same direction as the carpet. Wide rooms and large pattern repeats can need more than one seam.

Can new carpet go over my old pad?

We recommend new pad matched to the new carpet. Old pad is often compressed or stained, and the wrong pad can shorten the carpet’s life. We go over pad options during the estimate.

Will my doors need trimming?

Sometimes. If the new carpet and pad are thicker than the old ones, some doors may need trimming to swing freely. We point this out during the estimate.
